My name is Rachel Hundley, and I’m from Auburn, Alabama. In August of 2026, I graduated from Auburn University with a Bachelor of Arts in Public Relations.
My journey started not even remotely close to public relations; I started in nursing. I loved caring for people and making them feel hopeful. After a while, I realized that nursing was much more than just this. While I still loved the healthcare field, I felt that I needed to move on to something different. I rediscovered my love for writing, and through the motivation of friends, I found public relations.
All of my life, I loved making people feel seen and cared for. I was always the communicator. While in public relations, I realized just how true this was. Through many classes and experiences in this field, I have noticed how important it is in my life, other people’s lives and even in the workplace when communication is the top priority. I notice how much better things can be when we listen to others and communicate properly, which is a priority in public relations. We must listen to our clients, effectively solve problems and communicate what the audience needs to know.
I aspire to learn from all that I do, and I aim to take away something from each job. I am an active listener, and I want the clients I work with to feel like they are being heard and that their concerns are not downplayed, but are always my top priority.
I am excited to pursue opportunities that allow me to connect with audiences strategically, strengthen brands, and create meaningful connections!
Thrive Here @ Auburn!
Currently, I work as a supervisor at a coffee shop on Auburn’s campus called Thrive Here @ Auburn! This job has allowed me to strengthen my active listening skills as I care for all the barista concerns on and off the coffee bar. It is much more than just making coffee; it is about creating an experience for our customers, and that starts internally.
PRSSA/PRCA
I am an active member of PRCA and PRSSA! In March, I had the opportunity to help run the social media for the PRCA state conference in Mobile. I have learned so much from this experience, and seeing how hectic content creation can be has put things into perspective for me.
Travel
I love to travel and talk about where I have been. I also love taking photos of the places I have been. I have never been outside of the country, but I hope to go to Greece or even Spain someday.
Photography
I love to take photos of anything, but mainly of nature. I love to learn more about the effects of color and framing, the certain way things look to evoke an emotion.
Music and concerts
I have a deep love for music. The art behind songwriting is so inspiring, and I love to capture how it affects others as well.
